I seem to have misplaced my review of the first ep of this series. Basically, it takes up from a comment Tzuyu made during Twice’s recent Strategy promotions where she ranked all the members in order of who was ‘best’, whatever that means. She opted for the Meal Club members as the top three, numbering Chaeyoung, herself, then Dahyun. Just outside this privileged few was Jeongyeon, then Sana and Mina. Last of all was Nayeon and Momo. It was Tzuyu at her most savage. As to the show, the girls all inhabit different rooms depending on their ranking. Momo at last place is in a bathroom, while first place Chaeyoung is in a spiffy bedroom. The aim of the game is for the members to rank each other so that each new ranking results in room changes. At this point Sana and Dayhun are away due to schedules, I assume.
Watched the second ep of the latest Time To Twice, the Rank Battle. It was complete chaos as all the appearing members (Sana and Dahyun were still away, but their hamster and tofu avatars were present) fought it out for pole position in Room Number One. It was, as always, a good time. At the end of the episode Tzuyu was in Room One, with Nayeon relegated to Room Nine. An interesting addition in this series is every member has been given a rubiks cube to play with. Some of them have taken to solving it with gusto, and I think Chaeyoung is looking to cheat it by pulling it apart and putting it back together again. I wonder if this will pay off?
Watched the third ep of TTT the Rank Battle. It turned out not just Chaeyoung but five of the members were cheating with the rubiks cube by pulling it apart and putting it back together. Only Jeongyeon and Mina didn’t. Whether the cheaters get some kind of penalty is yet to be determined. During the mukbang scene Sana made a call to the members and they chatted about the contest. When asked who she thought was in ninth place Sana correctly answered Mina, to the amazement of all.
I had a rewatch of the third ep of Twice’s Time To Twice Rank Battle, which was a particularly good one. The mukbang scene was actually pretty classic. While Sana was on the phone her little purple hamster avatar was sitting there representing her. It was so cute. The mukbang was apportioned according to rank, so that Mina, who was ninth, had a meagre meal, while Sana’s hamster, which was first, had a banquet. Tzuyu pointed this out to Sana during the call and Sana generously offered to let everyone dig in – except Mina. But Mina didn’t seem to care because she wasn’t in the mood for eating today, for some reason. Most of the members complained about Sana being first when she basically didn’t do anything. Momo made the emphatic point that she had been largely relegated to last for her entire ten year career with Twice and had learned to accept it, but it was time to move up. This was a surprising confession seeming to reflect her status in the group’s song vocal distribution where she tends to get the least lines. She is the lead dancer, but also the one who the company seems to think has the weakest voice. I’m not sure if it also reflects the level of her popularity amongst Onces, but it could. Poor Momoling. We are all so happy that she has gotten the opportunity to show her unique voice off on the Misamo side projects. This TTT has been interesting for the truth bombs that have been dropped. And it ain’t over yet.
I tried watching the final Time To Twice Ranking but my internet was playing up. The audio was working just not the vision. I actually ‘listened’ to the whole episode that way with the image stuck on a shot of Momo. It was a big race to the bottom to see who would end up last to go. The ‘winner’ was Mina, who took it well and enjoyed all the attention of the cameras. I will watch the full version tomorrow when hopefully my internet is playing ball.
Finally saw the last ep of Time To Twice Ranking with the internet connection working properly. It makes much more sense with the vision. Jihyo gets to leave early and there’s a scene where she farewells Mina and Mina gives her a ‘get the fuck out of here’ sign. Seemed a little disrespectful to the group’s leader, but she was smiling, and Jihyo didn’t seem to take offence. There was a funny scene where Jeongyeon talked the absent Dahyun’s tofu avatar into signing off on being ninth, thus bumping Jeongyeon in the ranks. She helpfully signed the list on Dahyun’s behalf. Poor little Tofu. At this point the next person in line to leave early was Momo, coming in third in the ranks. Somehow she’d made the long journey there from ninth. The scene where all the other surviving members suck up to Momo in hopes she will vote one of them out was pretty classic. Chaeyoung got in early by giving her a massage, Tzuyu speed talked to her and others pleaded, and boy didn’t Momo love the attention. But it was all to nought: Momo voted herself out. After more play offs it came down to Mina and Tzuyu. They played that throw down game where you have to turn over a packet on the floor. Tzuyu won, and as she left she said to Mina, ‘Get that screen time’. And indeed Mina did. Sitting alone in the room, surrounded by the camera crew, our little blonde-haired Mina looked adorable and vulnerable. She noted all the cameras were now on her. Having theoretically gotten the most screen time of all, had she really lost? The Youtube comments emphatically said No. She was the real winner. End Fairy Mina!
